International Museum of Surgical Science (Part One) - Downstairs on Heygo

Inspired by Petit Trianon, Marie Antoinette’s chateau on the grounds of the Palace of Versailles, the Eleanor Robinson Countiss House is a gorgeous, 1917 mansion that is now home to a museum unlike anything else: the International Museum of Surgical Science (IMSS)! Aiming to promote the exchange of surgical knowledge worldwide, the IMSS has an extraordinary collection of more than 7,000 medical artifacts and pieces of art.

In this first installment in a two-part series, we'll focus on the wonderful stories of this Gilded Age mansion, the beautiful exterior architecture, and the IMSS's amazing collection on the first and second floors. Tour highlights include a recreation of an 1890s apothecary, an iron lung, and the Hall of Immortals sculpture room celebrating medical innovators. The IMSS is a truly special museum I'm really excited to feature on this virtual experience!

There’s no registration cost, but tips are appreciated. All you have to do is register in advance here, and then watch the live-streamed tour from any web browser.
