For the last century, Wrigley Field has evolved in fascinating ways constantly shaping the surrounding Wrigleyville neighborhood.

“Play Ball: The Wrigleyville Tour” explores how an area once known for celery farms and cemeteries transformed into a vibrant, sports entertainment district. This walking tour is filled with national landmarks, public art, celebrated bars, wonderful stories, and interesting features you’ll only find in Wrigleyville. At the heart of the tour is Wrigley Field, the country’s second oldest ballpark that wrapping up a $1 billion expansion plan with interesting features to discover.

Who is the tour guide?

Mike McMains creates and delivers all Tours With Mike experiences, so you know you are getting a professional, passionate guide.

How do I find Mike?

He will be at the aforementioned starting point wearing a Tours With Mike polo, hat, or some other type of branded attire or accessory.

Do we go inside buildings, like Wrigley Field?

This is entirely an outdoor tour, and we do not go inside of Wrigley Field.

I have tickets to the Cubs game later that day. Will I have time for both the tour and see the opening pitch?

Public tours end with 35-50 minutes before opening pitch, so there is enough time to get into Wrigley Field, stop at the restroom, grab some refreshments, and find your seat before the national anthem and the start of the game!

Are dogs allowed on the tour?

Since the entire tour is outdoors, leashed dogs are allowed.

Is there a restroom stop on the tour route?

Tourees are encouraged to stop at the restroom before the tour begins. Just to the east of the starting point at the intersection of Irving Park Road and Sheridan Road are several retail establishments that may have a public restroom available. A restroom stop can be made available during the tour upon request.

Can I buy my ticket in-person immediately before the start of the tour?

Tickets need to be purchased through this website in advance, because capacity is limited.

What is the cancellation/refund policy?

Tickets are fully refundable with at least 48 hours notice. Refund instructions are provided in the confirmation email.

What if it is raining?

All tours go out rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather.

Are there any COVID-19 considerations in-place?

All tours follow guidelines laid out by the State of Illinois’s and City of Chicago’s health departments. Currently masks and proof of vaccination are not required. Your tour guide, Mike, has been fully vaccinated and boosted.
