Inside the Museum - The International Museum of Surgical Science on Viewpal

Chicago is a city of museums ranging from some of the most acclaimed institutions in the country to boutique experiences you will not find anywhere else to pop-up attractions only here for a limited time. There is so much to discover! In this "Inside the Museum" series, Tours With Mike has obtained special permission to do Heygo tours in Chicago's wonderful museums to show why their collections are so fantastic.

Inspired by Petit Trianon, Marie Antoinette’s chateau on the grounds of the Palace of Versailles, the Eleanor Robinson Countiss House is a gorgeous, 1917 mansion that is now home to a museum unlike anything else: the International Museum of Surgical Science (IMSS)! Aiming to promote the exchange of surgical knowledge worldwide, the IMSS has an extraordinary collection of more than 7,000 medical artifacts and pieces of art. Highlights on this tour include a history of this Gilded Age mansion, a recreation of an 1890s apothecary, an iron lung, ancient Egyptian tablets depicting medical treatments, and the Hall of Immortals sculpture room celebrating medical innovators. The IMSS is a truly special museum I'm really excited to feature on this virtual experience!

There’s no registration cost, but tips are appreciated. All you have to do is register in advance here, and then watch the live-streamed tour from any web browser.
