Chicago has at least 77 neighborhoods (it depends on who you ask), each with its own histories, evolutions, landmarks, and unique characteristics. The "Chicago's Neighborhoods" series reveals these stories and highlights the diversity of this wonderful city.

Northalsted has also been known as Lake View East, New Town, and Boystown, and the first LGBTQ-oriented businesses and organizations started opening up there in the mid-1970s. Today it is one of the country’s largest LGBTQ districts and the first one formally recognized by its city government. The neighborhood today is filled with interesting stores, LGBTQ services, public art, homes, and stories. I hope you can join for this tour!
