When there is a perfectly sunny day, Chicago just radiates with beauty. There are some things, however, that have to be seen after the sun sets. The "Chicago After Dark" series focuses on those special things making the city special at nighttime.

The massive Merchandise Mart (today known as theMart) is the "Queen of the Chicago River" and one of the largest buildings in the United States in terms of square footage. Since 2018, the enormous, 2.5-acre facade along the river has been a canvass for artists to use in a rotating mix of digitally projected creations that also includes musical accompaniments. Currently Nick Cave, Carrie Hanson, The Seldoms, Marlena Novak, and Jay Alan Yim are featured in an array of Art on theMart installations. During this live-streamed experience, I will provide additional details on these artists, and between segments, I will share stories about theMart, a magnificent, Art Deco masterpiece.
